The Plight of Orphans, Medical and Educate Abroad Missions

HALO Missions, International Charity

Around the world, there are an estimated 153 million orphans who have lost one parent. There are at least 17 million orphans who have lost both parents and are living in orphanages or on the streets and lack the care and attention required for healthy development. There are 70,000 new AIDS orphans a year. These children are at risk for disease, malnutrition, and death. In many instances, these children are left to care for their siblings with no resources, no adult supervision, no medical care, and no hope of an education.

In developing countries, the tragedy of the HIV/AIDS epidemic has created an orphan population explosion. To date AIDS/HIV has caused 39 million deaths worldwide. This has created a devastating long-term impact in developing nations, particularly in African societies -- some 13 million AIDS orphans currently reside in sub-Saharan Africa.

HALO Missions was created with these children in mind. HALO Missions is a faith based charity created to give hope and help to orphans abroad in developing countries through healthcare services and education opportunities.
